Compass Counseling Services of NOVA is seeking master’s level mental health therapist therapists to join our Multisystemic Therapy (MST) Program. Ideal candidates are motivated to provide high-quality, community-based services to youth and families and are committed to creating meaningful, lasting change through evidence-based, data-driven practices.

MST therapists receive ongoing training in the MST model and work closely with youth ages 11–17, their families, and their broader support networks. MST addresses serious behavioral concerns, criminal involvement, and substance use by empowering families and implementing intensive, research-supported interventions such as skill building, restructuring unhelpful interactions, and strengthening social supports. As an MST Therapist with Compass you will:

  • Provide direct clinical treatment following MST principles, emphasizing strengths, behavior patterns, and increased mature behavior
  • Conduct thorough assessments of client and family strengths, concerns, and ecological factors to guide case conceptualization.
  • Work effectively with a diverse population of clients and families.
  • Continuously work to engage caregivers, family members, supports, schools, probation, and child welfare in change-focused treatment.
  • Participate in weekly case planning and progress evaluation with team and supervisor support.
  • Receive ongoing MST training, supervision, and professional development to build advanced clinical skills.
  • Ensure clients have access to 24/7 crisis support in coordination with the clinical team.

Compensation of an MST Therapist at Compass:

  • Starting salary - $55,000-$60,000 per year (75 billable hour requirement/month)
  • $65/hour for any hours billed over monthly billing requirement (unlimited earning potential)
  • Mileage, supplies, and cell phone reimbursement

Education, Experience, & Other Requirements:

Required: Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Forensic Psychology, or Human Services area; valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving history and good driving record; availability during afternoons and evenings

Preferred: Eligible for residency in Virginia (we offer free residency supervision for LPC and LCSW residents); Spanish-speaking; skilled in collaborating with community agencies and experience providing in-home or community-based services.
